Amenities

Dining & Drinks – The resort has two on-site restaurants. The main  restaurant is Habitat Bistro, which offers a hearty à la carte breakfast each morning looking out over the  infinity pool and into the jungle valley – a perfect place for a floating breakfast tray. At  night, Habitat Bistro serves international and local dishes in a very romantic poolside environment; one guest really  appreciated the attention to detail: “do try the pink crispy eggs Benedict!!!!”

Shichirin  – Kaamala’s teppanyaki-style charcoal grill offers dinner where the chefs slice, dice, and flambé courses in  front of the guests. Reviews mentioned that  it is “the perfect location; close to the center yet surrounded by nature”². The Sacred  Monkey Forest Sanctuary is only a 5-min walk from the venue, and the area is visited by  friendly monkeys that can often be seen in the area (they can even join you by the pool or  for breakfast!). In fact, one reviewer pointed out that the resort is “not a threat to  monkeys, lizards, etc.” because the resort was designed in harmony with the environment². Ubud  Palace, the traditional market and the Saraswati Temple can be reached on foot within  20-25 min or in 5 min with the hotel’s free shuttle (1.5 km). The  property is surrounded by dozens of restaurants, art galleries and shops that are easily reachable by foot or  a short shuttle ride. Nonetheless, the resort’s grounds open out onto a jungle canyon and paddy  fields, so there is a feeling of being away from it all. Guests are woken by the  sounds of nature and enjoy looking at the sunset through the trees. The resort and it`s bungalows is approximately 40 km from the airport (Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar) and  airport transfers can be arranged at an extra charge. The location of the resort has been highly appreciated by  guests – for the proximity to the cultural objects of Ubud and for the peaceful and green  environment. One guest from Brazil summed it up nicely: “Superb! Location has many facilities nearby –  restaurants, bars and shops etc. The staff was very helpful in giving us suggestions on where to eat  and what to do in Ubud.

Activities

On-Site Experiences – Kaamala Resort Ubud offers a perfect balance between rest and play for its guests. Wellness activities are a focal point: Start the day with gentle yoga  on the pavilion deck or join a guided meditation in the middle of the jungle. There is an infinity  pool to leisurely swim in, and the staff will sometimes serve a floating afternoon tea by the pool  – such an experience was made memorable when Ubud’s wildlife paid a visit (one guest was  ‘lucky to see the monkeys at the pool during tea time’). Those interested in cooking can check if Balinese cooking classes are available. Also, fruit carving demonstrations are available from time to time as part of the  resort’s cultural activities (and the on-site chefs are always happy to share their recipes). In the spa, in addition to treatments, guests can sometimes learn about traditional Indonesian wellness practices during a herbal bath ritual workshop. The resort can also arrange for archery practice on the premises and offers bicycles for guests to  pedal around the village lanes. Guided rice paddy walks can also be done in the nearby fields  for those who want to get more into the Ubud countryside.
